Today I created a card to enter into the MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge – Sketch 378. Here is the sketch for this weeks challenge:
And here is the card I created for the challenge:
I wanted to create my own textured background so using the large solid bubble image in the set and my Versa Mark Ink Pad I stamped the image all over and used white embossing powder and my heat tool to create a fun bubbly pattern.
Next I cut some more white and Bubblegum cardstock down to use as mats for my focal image. I ended up doing a LOT of trimming because I kept changing my mind about what I wanted. The measurements I finally ended up with are: White mat – 3 3/8 x 3 1/4, Bubblegum mat – 3 1/8 x 3 1/8, inked piece (white) – 3 x 3
I used Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide Ink and a sponge to create a soft yet bright sky. I like how it turned out but I need to get the ink blenders because I think the effect would be much better with a blender rather than a sponge. But I do like how it turned out! I am really loving the Oxide inks now, at first I wasn’t sure but boy am I hooked now! 🙂
On a scrap of smooth white cardstock I laid my images out to get an idea of what I wanted to do. I decided I wanted to add a little hill for the rabbits to be standing on. I used a die to cut the hill from some MFT Spearmint Cardstock and I love the contrast between the bright sky and the muted grass.
I then colored the images using Copics, choosing pastel colors in pink, blue, purple and aqua (for the bubbles). Then I cut the images using the coordinating dies. I love how cute they turned out!!
For the sentiment piece I chose the “Best Wishes and Bubble Kisses” from the set, using the versamark and white embossing powders once again, plus some additional little bubbles to frame the sentiment. The cardstock mats for the sentiment piece measure 1 x 3 1/8 for the Bubblegum piece, with the white piece trimmed very close to achieve a very thin border.
I then put it all together and added some pink pearls from my stash and glitter and glossy accents to the bubbles and bunnies outfits, and the hill.
Big thanks to MFT for the chance to play along! If you’d like to play too just click the link for a chance to win a $50 gift voucher from MFT!!!
I hope you all have an awesome, safe and wonderful Easter Holiday!
Hugs to all!
