Hi everyone! As I type this blog post wayyyyy before Christmas, it is miserable outside!  Very cold and rainy.  It’s October and the only thing keeping me going is knowing that the winter holidays are right around the corner.  Which means I better get busy making my Holiday Cards!

Luckily I have the 2018 Holiday Catalog from Stampin’ UP!  Not just a slim book full of products, but also full of ideas!  The card I am sharing today is a CASE’d card.  What does CASE mean?  Well, in Stampin’ UP! lingo, CASE means Copy And Share Everything.  The catalogs make CASEing easy, there is literally a wonderful idea on nearly every page!

Here is the card for today:

Isn’t it pretty?  The inspiration for this card is found on page 28 of the Holiday Catalog.  The products used to create it are part of the Joyous Noel Suite.  When you see products listed in a “suite” that means Stampin’ UP! has listed all the products that will coordinate together to create gorgeous images.

I didn’t have all the products in the suite so I did need to change things up a bit, but that’s okay!  That’s what CASEing is all about!  Taking a design and making it your own.  For instance, I didn’t have any way to make the little indents in the corners of the card, so I used a corner of my Everyday Label punch to get the effect I wanted.  Worked like a charm!  I also didn’t have Ovals Framelits so I again used the Everyday Label punch for the sentiment piece.

The Merry Merlot Ribbon was another bit I didn’t have.  Luckily in my stash I found a scalloped border die cut from an ages old Stampin’ UP! kit that I actually found in a thrift store!  (see why being a hoarder can sometimes be a good thing?  ha ha!)

The catalog shows you a picture but doesn’t give you details so here is what I worked out for my card:

Base – Sahara Sand – 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, scored at 4 1/4

Whisper White – 2 pieces at 4 x 5 1/4, one scrap piece for the sentiment piece

Inks – Merry Merlot, Sahara Sand, Soft Suede, Tranquil Tide

I also used the Clear Wink of Stella to add shimmer.

I also used the Joyous Noel Glimmer Paper in Tranquil Tide for the branches, which I punched out using the Sprig Punch.  The punch and the stamp set that I used (Peaceful Noel) are available in a bundle, which will save  you 10%!

Though I didn’t use any Designer Series Paper on this card, the Joyous Noel Specialty DSP in this Suite is AMAZING!  Really beautiful paper!

I finished the inside of the card too!

For the sentiment on the inside of the card I used an image from the I’ll Be Home stamp set, also in the Holiday Catalog.  The other images are from the Peaceful Noel set.  I believe I used Tranquil Tide and Merry Merlot Ink.

Next time you get stuck for an idea browse the catalogs, you’ll get unstuck in no time!
